The Other 99% - You Can Dare To Lead

This book, written by internationally renowned teacher on leadership, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, is an excellent book both for those who think they can’t be leaders and for those who already are.

The book intrinsically speaks about every person’s journey of becoming and being the person each one is meant to become, that is, fully alive and self-actualized like a climber reaching the mountain peak as described by him. It is about finding oneself and discovering the immense treasures within; and upon finding it, one is transformed and inevitably moves outward towards others in order to help them find themselves in the dark and complicated forest of modern life.

Prof. Chatterjee presents this journey using stories either from his personal experiences, his own encounters with international leaders during his talks or from spoken or written traditions of the world.

Although this book is about leadership and most probably gains closer attention from business management students or managers, this book is fundamentally spiritual and should also be found at the Spirituality section in bookstores or libraries. It is loaded with universal truths spoken of either by monks or spiritual teachers of old. Prof. Chatterjee has wonderfully integrated the basic spiritual tenets in the whole structure of secular leadership, thus sanctifying it and making it a spiritual calling for all of us.

Prof. Chatterjee is in fact that mountain climber who has endeavored to climb his own mountain peak and from the top of his highest potentials, has climbed down and extended his hand to all of us telling us of the destiny of the human person that is fulfilled at the mountain top. Prof. Chatterjee is someone who has chartered the terrains of his 99% with zeal and enthusiasm. He therefore invites us to muster our courage, to ignite our interest of our hidden peak, to make ready our gears and to start climbing.

This book is a must read both for the young and the old, for those climbing towards their mountain peak, those who have lost sight of it and for those who do not actually believe that there's a mountain to climb.
