(In celebration of World Environment Day)
Everyday is a boon
Which is forgotten so soon
Days which shine so fine
Oh, but they are never mine!
A divine gift it is called
From high above it was moulded
But don't we take things for granted?
Things which are the world's most wanted?
When food piles rise up, towering
Blinding me and covering,
I never saw the glistening
And never heard the whispering
Of a hungry face with longing eyes
And desperate sighs
But when the piles decreased in height
I did see the gloomy sight,
Of hunger and bewailing!
Leaving me sailing,
On an ocean of regret and queries...
Do we hear the wailing,
In the hungry stomachs prevailing?
Do we hear them mourning,
And their empty stomachs churning?
So, let us spread light
Into the darkness of night
of hunger and sorrows,
And build a new world of sharing and bright tomorrow!
